TRIANGLE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS, INC. OPENS NEW MANUFACTURING FACILTY
DuBois, PA. (January 22, 2007) - Triangle Suspension Systems, Inc., produced
the first multi-leaf spring Friday, January 12, 2007 from its new Short Run
Plant in Punxsutawney, PA. Since 1919, the Triangle name has been synonymous
with steel leaf springs. Originally located in the "Golden Triangle" section
of Pittsburgh, in 1927 Triangle's base of operation moved to DuBois, PA.
Steady growth in market share and a series of strategic acquisitions put
Triangle firmly on the road to becoming North America's premier supplier of
undercarriage products for the independent aftermarket.
"Triangle's recent focus on core competencies and current business philosophy
necessitated a short run manufacturing facility. After months of searching for
a suitable manufacturing location, Triangle chose the former Jensen plant in
Punxsutawney, PA" said Fernando Bertero, President of Triangle Suspension
Systems. "The DuBois facility, also known as the Long Run Plant, will continue
to improve its output, manufacturing high volume parabolic and multi-leaf
springs, while continuing to meet or exceed Triangle's high quality
standards."
Harry Pehote, VP of Manufacturing stated, "Triangle's Short Run Plant is the
showcase of the industry. The plant, from concept to start up, was based on
80/20 and lean manufacturing principles. Several of the manufacturing
employees working at the plant invested 9 months on a project team that
analyzed existing manufacturing processes and reconfigured the plant." Bob
Heberling, Operations Manager, Short Run Plant, used his knowledge of 80/20
and lean manufacturing to lead the project team to design new ways to
manufacture leaf springs that have not changed in a hundred years. "The
perseverance of Bob and his team has led to a state of the art factory, set up
by the employees, with technology new to the leaf spring industry. As a result
of their success the lessons learned from our Short Run Plant will be
implemented in our Long Run Plant in the near future. Both plants are
dedicated to being world class manufacturing operations, supplying high
quality products to our customers" said Harry Pehote.
Harry Howard, VP of Sales & Marketing comments on the competitive advantage
Triangle will have in today's market. "Triangle will be positioned to better
serve our customers and reduce industry lead times. The Long Run Plant will
allow us to focus on our large volume part numbers while being able to supply
top-quality specialized product to niche markets from the Short Run
Plant."
The recent undertaking demonstrates Triangle's commitment to "building a
future" as the market leader in the medium and heavy duty vehicle aftermarket.
